Don Cummings has been the director of our Prosthetics department since 1987. He grew up in Ecuador where his parents were missionaries. He became interested in the field of prosthetics in 1978 when, as a freshman in college, he lost both legs below the knees to bacterial meningitis.
In 1981 he received a Bachelor of Science in Generic Special Education from The University of Texas at Dallas, and in 1984 earned a Bachelor of Science in Prosthetics and Orthotics from UT Southwestern Medical Center. He is an ABC Certified and Texas Licensed Prosthetist. When not at work, Don enjoys fishing, writing, photography, reading and spending time with his wife and family.
