Clinical Care

Many services at Scottish Rite for Children are available on an outpatient basis, and helping children and families feel comfortable at every visit is our No. 1 priority.

Children and teenagers come to our outpatient clinics for initial consultations and follow-up visits, as well as services including:

Our specialists see patients at our Dallas and Frisco campuses, and when possible, our patient care coordinators work to schedule appointments all in a single day so your child can receive their care in one convenient visit.

Scheduling an Appointment

If your child’s provider arranged a referral, our team will contact you to schedule your child’s appointment. However, many of our services are available without a referral, and you can schedule an appointment with one of our specialists.

If your child is already a Scottish Rite patient, you can use the MyChart patient portal to book a new appointment.

What to Expect When You Arrive

We designed our campuses with kids and families in mind. When you arrive, a volunteer or staff member will greet you and direct you to your appropriate check-in desk. You might also smell our signature popcorn being popped in our atriums.

Our clinics have large, comfortable waiting areas, and both campuses have dining options.

You’ll also find outdoor playgrounds if kids need to burn off some energy before or after a visit.

Parking

Parking is available directly in front of each location, and you can use our covered entrances for dropping off or picking up a patient.

What to Bring

Your child’s clinical care team will let you know if you need to bring specific items, such as a brace your child wears, or items that might make the visit easier, such as noise-canceling headphones.

In general, we recommend bringing:

  • A list of medications your child currently takes or the medications in their original bottles
  • Insurance card (if applicable)
  • Name and contact information for your child’s pediatrician or other health care provider
  • Relevant medical records, X-rays, and other diagnostic images and reports
  • Your child’s immunization record (if this is your first visit with Scottish Rite)

Child Life Services

Our child life specialists are available to help with every visit. They can help reduce anxiety your child may feel about seeing a doctor, teach them about their diagnosis in age-appropriate terms and offer support to brothers and sisters, if they are present.

Child life specialists can also explain procedures, such as cast removal and imaging tests, if your child is nervous.

They’re here to support your entire family to make your visits as easy as possible.
